Description
From the historic tea fields of Uji, YŪ SEI begins with carefully shade-grown first harvest (Ichibancha) tea leaves.
Our tea leaves are shade-grown for a minimum of three weeks before harvest, developing deeper umami and natural sweetness.
Stone-milled in Japan using traditional methods, each 40g tin of YŪ SEI matcha preserves the tea’s vibrant colour, delicate aroma and naturally smooth character.
The Blend
In Japan, tea blending is an art passed down through generations, guided by a deep understanding of each leaf and what it brings to the bowl.
At the heart of YŪ SEI are Okumidori and Yabukita. Okumidori lends mellow sweetness and a creamy character, while Yabukita adds fresh green aromas and savoury depth.
The secret lies in their proportions. Knowing how much of each allows their individual qualities to complement one another. This is where selection becomes artistry: a carefully judged balance that gives our matcha its distinctive character.
